The number can be right while the date is not
You remember that your son is a 27. But that was February, and it is now September. The foot has had time to grow, and new shoes will be tight in no time.
Childrens clothing is the same: the size often follows height rather than age, so a label saying 5 to 6 years can be less useful than a measurement of 116 cm.
