Models and product details
Save the product details you will need again in two years
Some details are needed very rarely — which is exactly why nobody remembers them by the next time. A paint code, a tile reference, a curtain size, a fitting model or an exact shade can be needed again months or even years later.
Save them in Specsy once — and next time there is no hunting for old packaging or a receipt, and no trying to remember what exactly was bought.

Some information is needed only a couple of times
You pick a paint, spend an hour on the shade, paint the wall — and forget it. Two years later a small patch needs touching up, and the exact colour, brand and finish are nowhere to be found.
The same happens with a tile reference, a laminate batch number, the size of a curtain, a mattress or a fitting.
All of it is too small to deserve a spreadsheet. But saving a photo and a couple of values in Specsy takes less than a minute — and a few years later it can save hours of searching.
The details most worth keeping
- Paint colours together with the exact code — names can repeat, the code finds that shade
- Tile and flooring references — with the batch number, where there is one
- Window, curtain and pole measurements — room by room
- Mattress and bedding sizes — especially where anything is non standard
- Key codes, valve, fitting and hardware types — anything a tradesperson may ask you to confirm mid job
The habit that makes it work
- Photograph the packaging before you throw it outA paint tin lid, a tile box, the packet a part came in — that is the moment every detail you need is still in front of you.
- Name the card the way you will look for it laterFor example, "Living room — wall paint", not just the shade code. In two years the room comes to mind faster than the reference.
- Save the date and how much material was usedIt tells you later when the work was done and how much paint, tile or anything else to buy again.
The card you thank yourself for later
Sizes and filters help you avoid the wrong purchase. Saved renovation details can save a whole weekend: no second trip to have a shade matched, no hunting for the same tile, no trying to remember what was used a few years ago.
And this is exactly the information people fail to write down — at the time of the work it feels impossible to forget.
Questions people ask
Is this not what photos on my phone are for?
A photo works until you need to find it. A photo of a paint tin from two years ago is fifteen thousand photos back, with no name and no search term.
Can I group cards by room?
Yes. There are categories, and you can start the name with the room: "Kitchen, paint", "Bedroom, curtains". Search finds both the category and the name.
Can I share these with a builder or decorator?
You can send a link to the card, but they will only see what is on it inside the app: without Specsy the link shows just the card name. If they are not going to install it, a screenshot of the card is simpler.
